Genevieve Dodd Byers of Forest Hill, MD peacefully passed away June 6th, 2023, surrounded by loved ones.  She was 90 years old.

Genevieve was born on June 7th, 1932 in Nellysford, VA, daughter of the late Claude Norrison Dodd and Mary Virginia Mawyer Dodd. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband of 59 years, William Phillip Byers (Phil), son James, and two grandchildren.  Genevieve is survived by daughters Kathryn Byers (James Sullivan), Susan (Andrew) Kochenderfer, Jennifer (William) Simone, and Pamela (Michael) Buhidar; sons John (Katherine) Byers, David (Lynn) Byers, William (Michelle) Byers, and Michael Byers, daughter-in law, Lisa Byers; 24 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. 

Genevieve, a trailblazer for future generations of women, worked to pay for the B.S. in Education she earned from James Madison University in the 1955. She was a beloved educator for over 40 years, teaching at Havre de Grace High School, Aberdeen High School, Harford Community College, and The John Carroll School. Over her career she educated thousands of students and is well remembered for her patience. She was an avid sports fan, her favorites being baseball and basketball, which likely developed from her experience as a pitcher for her fastpitch softball team.  In addition to being a wonderful mother and grandmother she was also a prolific reader, made the best homemade meals and desserts, and enjoyed sudoku puzzles, keeping up with current events and politics, as well as traveling to see loved ones.
