On January 13, 1949, Franklin Cornelious Ambush, Jr. was born to Lealer B. and Franklin C. Ambush, Sr. Franklin grew up in Jarrettsville, MD, with his four siblings (Mazie, Sarah Jane, Robert, and Hope). Early on July 20, 2026, Franklin departed this life.
Franklin was the baby of the family and was known as “Butch”. He attended Central Consolidated School, Hickory, MD, until it was closed in 1965 and graduated from North Harford High School, Jarrettsville, in 1967. After graduation, Butch attended Harford Community College for one year and then enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served as a Munitions Specialist for more than 25 years and endured two tours in Vietnam.
His introduction to God occurred in childhood at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Joppa, MD, and St. James United Methodist Church, Jarrettsville, MD.
Franklin worked as a farm laborer as a teenager and after retiring from the Air Force. He also served as a grounds keeper at Ft. Meade for several years after retiring.
Butch enjoyed playing cards, especially Spades, listening to Rock and Roll artists, dancing, and working outdoors. He was a fan of professional basketball and baseball. Franklin loved spicy food, so to ensure that whatever he ate was spicy, he always carried a bottle of Tabasco with him.
Franklin leaves to celebrate his life: son Franklin; sister Hope Chambers; nephews Franklin Gaither, Richard Flichman, Everett Chambers; nieces Sandra Stowers, Trumaine Ambush-Hudley, and Jada McLean; and a number of extended family members. Butch was predeceased by his siblings Sarah Jane, Mazie, and Robert as well as nephews Dougie and Robbie.
