Fernando “Fred” M. Silva, 73, of Aberdeen, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 22, 2026.
Born in Portugal, Fred was the beloved son of the late Marcelino Silva and the late Judite (Bettencourt) Silva. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Maria Carter.
Fred was the devoted husband of Carol Louise (McIntire) Silva. The couple would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in August 2026, a milestone that reflects their enduring love and commitment.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a veteran of honorable service. Following his military career, Fred continued his dedication to his country through his work at Aberdeen Proving Ground, from which he also retired.
Fred was a loving and devoted family man. He cherished spending quality time with his granddaughters, celebrating the upcoming arrival of his grandson, helping his sons with projects around their homes, going on boat rides, and relaxing in his pool. He enjoyed playing Mexican Choo-Choo and piddling around with his “project” truck. His presence, guidance, and steady support will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his sons, Chris Silva and his wife, Francine, and Jonathan Silva and his wife, Miranda; his cherished grandchildren, Waverly Silva, Bailey Silva, and a grandson due in July; his siblings, Maria Dery, Fernanda Silva, and Roy Silva. He leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will treasure his memory.
