Evelyn Jean Countess, 73, of Abingdon, Maryland, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2024, at Stella Maris Hospice in Timonium, Maryland. Born in Nash County, North Carolina, she was the cherished daughter of the late William and Lizzie (Johnson) Aker.
Evelyn shared 54 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, William Countess. She was a devoted member of St. Francis de Sales, where her faith was a guiding light in her life.
Evelyn had a deep passion for baseball, particularly for the Baltimore Orioles and the Aberdeen IronBirds. Her love for the game was infectious, and she cherished every moment spent cheering on her favorite teams. She also held a special place in her heart for her grandmother and treasured the memories they shared. Among her many joys in life, Evelyn found immense happiness in trips to Ocean City and the serene beauty of the beach.
Evelyn leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her loving daughter, Kimberley M. Young, and devoted son, Christopher W. Countess. She will be deeply missed by her adoring grandchildren, Madison M. Young and Cole E. Young. Evelyn is also survived by her sisters, Cathy Wobbleton-Aker and Rebecca Reter; brothers, William Woodruff and Larry Woodruff; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Woodruff; stepbrothers, Douglas Aker and Grady Aker.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Woodruff, and sister, Liz Prudanem. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
Services will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at 10:00 am as St. Francis de Sales, main church, Abingdon, Maryland.
