Elizabeth “Liz” Ann Heiser, age 83, of Jarrettsville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 1, 2026, in Jarrettsville, MD. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the beloved daughter of the late John Harris Gaver and the late Elizabeth Ann (Wilfong) Gaver.

Liz was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and teacher. She had a deep love for her family and her many friends. Liz taught in public elementary schools for 33 years. She was a gifted teacher, much loved by her students. Teaching and being a Grandmother brought her the greatest joy. Liz dedicated her life to educating and inspiring young minds.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Matthew Gaver.

Liz is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, James Heiser; her daughter, Annette Traband, and her husband, Mark Traband; her granddaughter, Elizabeth “Lizzy” Traband; her brother, John Gaver, her sister, Amy Gaver; her sister, Cyndy Gaver: her daughter-in-law, Kellie Gaver; her son-in-law, Jerry Belcastro; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made by sending school supplies to a local school in need, reflecting her lifelong dedication to education and her 33 years teaching. Donations may also be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in her honor. https://www.stjude.org/
