ELICK ZAK, age 87, of Abingdon, MD, died on February 8, 2007, at Bel Air Health and Rehabilitation Center, Bel Air, MD. Born in Taylor, TX, he was the son of the late John and Frances Zak and the husband, for 43 years, of the late Laura Corine Ramsey Zak. He came to Harford County in 1945 and retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground as an estimator in project planning. An army veteran, he served our country during WWII. He received the Purple Heart on Nov. 21, 1944 in Germany, the Bronze Star Medal for heroic achievement in action against the enemy in Germany on Oct. 16, 1944, and the Silver Star Medal for gallantry in action against the enemy in Germany on April 13, 1945. He was a member of the VFW in Stewartstown, PA, the American Legion in Havre de Grace and the Aberdeen Moose Lodge. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting and belonged to the Waterman Association.
Mr. Zak is survived by his sister-in-law, Louise Ramsey of Norrisville, MD; a niece, Debbie McWilliams of Norrisville, MD; and friend, Jack Grisson of Aberdeen, MD.
