Eleanor Kustra Todaro, age 89, passed away peacefully on Dec 30, 2023 at Brightview Assisted Living in Bel Air, MD.
Eleanor was born on June 27, 1934 to parents Anthony and Mary Ann Kustra of McKeesport, Pennsylvania. She graduated from McKeesport High School in 1951 where she took coursework to prepare for a career as a secretary. She married her husband, Don Todaro, in 1956, and they moved to Slippery Rock, PA, where Don was a gym/history teacher at the high school and Eleanor worked as a secretary in the school office. In 1965, Don, Eleanor, and their two young daughters moved to Edgewood, MD, where they welcomed two more children to their family. Eleanor stayed in her home for almost 40 years before moving in with her son and daughter-in- law in Bel Air. She enjoyed being loved and cared for by them for over 12 years. She then moved to Brightview Assisted living in 2019 and was lovingly cared for by the staff there until she passed.
Eleanor was a full-time homemaker when the children were young, and then worked two part-time jobs: selling Avon and working as a test coordinator for Harford Community College in Bel Air. Eleanor dedicated her life to being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Her legacy is her amazing gift of hospitality. She loved having a full house and hosted cousins, siblings, nieces and nephews in her home for over 50 years. She was a blessing to all who knew her and she will be greatly missed.
Eleanor is survived by her son, Don (Eva) Todaro; daughters, LuAnn (Kevin) Ensor, Kim (Ed) Marshall, and Vicki (Matt) Hart; grandchildren, Kyle Ensor, Eric Ensor, Alex Ensor, Anna Marshall, Allison Marshall, Austin Marshall, Jacob Marshall, Brandon (Rebekah) Alston, and Autumn Hart; great-grandchild Catherine Alston; and sister, Irene Squires.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, John Kustra, Albert Kustra, Walter Kustra, and Stella Ruccio.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church that she dearly loved and was a founding member of: Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 2600 Willoughby Beach Road, Edgewood, MD 21040.
