Eirini Anastasiou, age 57, of Maryland, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, in Baltimore, Maryland.
Born in Greece, Eirini was the daughter of Kalliopi (Biskitzi) Tsitouridou and the late Velissarios Tsitouridis.
Eirini had a lifelong passion for learning, medicine, and helping others. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Stony Brook University, graduating with a degree in Neurophysiology and Pharmacology and a minor in Anthropology. During and after college, she assisted with cancer research at the university. She later attended New York Medical College in pursuit of a medical degree; however, health problems prevented her from completing the program.
Eirini proudly served her country in the United States Air Force as a Second Lieutenant.
Widowed at a young age following the death of her husband, Petros Anastasiou, Eirini devoted herself to raising her daughter on her own. Later in life, she married Leonidas Tsiatsoulis on April 28, 2015, and followed her heart by returning to school, earning her nursing degree from Harford Community College in December 2024. She was employed at St. Joseph's Medical Center, where she was blessed to work alongside a wonderful group of coworkers in the Neuro Department.
Eirini was also deeply dedicated to her faith and community. She taught school at both Sts. Mary Magdalene & Markella Greek Orthodox Church and St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, especially the novels of Agatha Christie, and Pride and Prejudice was among her favorite books.
A kindhearted human being in every sense of the word, Eirini was a giver to humanity. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, wife, daughter, sister, and stepmother whose kindness, compassion, and love touched the lives of those around her.
Eirini is survived by her husband, Leonidas Tsiatsoulis; daughter, Eugenia Anastasiou; granddaughter, Kimiko Eirini Stellato; mother, Kalliopi Tsitouridou; sister, Maria Tsitouridou; brother, Pavlos Tsitouridis; and stepdaughter, Antonia Tsiatsoulis.
In addition to her father, Velissarios Tsitouridis, Eirini was preceded in death by her first husband, Petros Anastasiou.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sts. Mary Magdalene & Markella Greek Orthodox Church, P.O. Box 1575, Bel Air, MD 21014.
