Edith May McCormack, age 88, of York, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 20, 2026.

Edith was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and woman of faith. She was first married to the late Robert Leroy Maddox and later to her second husband, the late Honorable Thomas J. McCormack.

A devout Catholic, Edith’s faith was the fundamental part of who she was and remained a constant source of strength and devotion.

Born on a farm in Maryland, Edith was the beloved daughter of the late John Alcide White and the late Cora Virginia (Temple) White. Edith met and married her first husband, the late Robert Maddox, after she graduated from secretarial school and the two of them moved into the home they built together. As a young mother, Edith managed the growing family construction business while raising five children. Eventually, Edith returned to school and earned an Associate of Arts degree in Mental Health at Essex Community College.

Later in life, Edith shared many wonderful years in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with her late second husband, the Honorable Thomas J. McCormack. She served as his judicial assistant and and worked alongside him on the bench. The two enjoyed their vacation home in Sarasota, Florida. Edith treasured time spent at the beach, with a particular fondness for Siesta Key. She enjoyed collecting seashells and cherished the beauty and serenity of the shore. She also loved attending the opera and travel.

Above all, Edith loved her family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her love of her family, devotion to her faith, and the many cherished memories she created with those she loved.

She is survived by her loving children, Donna McCracken, Robert Maddox, Michael Maddox, Joanne Wilkes, and Philip Maddox; her 10 beloved grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren; her identical twin sister Martha Belle DelGiorno and many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.
