Dr. James Chin Ping Wong

Dr. James Chin Ping Wong, age 73, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.

Born in Malaysia, James was the beloved son of the late H.T. Wong and the late C.Q. (Kong) Wong.

James shared nearly 50 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Lillian Wong, and together they built a life filled with love, faith, and family over 53 beautiful years. Their relationship was a true testament to unwavering devotion, and he never missed an opportunity to show his wife how deeply he loved and adored her.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and friend, James centered his life around his family. He loved his children unconditionally and would do anything to protect and provide for those he loved. Family was truly his world, and the values of dedication, integrity, and compassion that he lived by continue through the generations he cherished.

James was a man of deep Christian faith and was actively involved with CCCB Church, where he faithfully led many church services and encouraged countless people through his example. As a motivational speaker, he inspired others with his wisdom, humility, and steadfast faith. His remarkable work ethic, dedication, and willingness to mentor others earned him the admiration and respect of many. He quietly influenced countless lives, leaving behind a lasting legacy of leadership, mentorship, and service to his community.

Although he was a man of few words and rarely expressive with his emotions, James was always clear in his intentions and in the love he had for those closest to him. He possessed a sharp wit and wonderful sense of humor that became even more evident in his later years, as he embraced life with a more relaxed spirit. His humility, wisdom, and genuine character made him someone others naturally looked up to.

James found joy in many simple pleasures. He loved traveling, especially taking cruises and visiting Ireland. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed playing Mahjong, enjoyed all kinds of Chinese food, and could often be found watching classic B-film movies. In his later years, he developed a love for ice cream and online shopping. He also had a special place in his heart for Honeybee, the family's beloved granddog.

Above all else, James treasured the time he spent with his family and the relationships he built throughout his life. His kindness, quiet strength, unwavering faith, and generous spirit touched an extraordinary number of people, creating a lasting sense of community among all who knew him.

James is survived by his beloved wife, Lillian Wong; his loving son, Benjamin Wong and his wife, Tanya Chantawansri; his loving daughter, Kimberly Nzuwah and her husband, Nathan; his cherished granddaughter, Caitlin Nzuwah; and his dear siblings, Nicholas Wong, Francis Wong, Andrew Wong, and Mei Yun Wong.

In addition to his parents, H.T. Wong and C.Q. (Kong) Wong, James was preceded in death by his brothers, Jeoffry Wong and Bruce Wong.

Dr. James Chin Ping Wong will be remembered for his unwavering faith, quiet strength, humble heart, steadfast love for his family, and the countless lives he touched through his mentorship, wisdom, and compassion. His legacy of love, service, and devotion will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him.
