Douglas Lee Houck

Douglas Lee Houck, age 83, of Dover, Delaware, (previously of Bel Air, MD) passed away peacefully on Monday, October 27, 2025. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Dwight L Houck and Mary Opal (Gentry) Houck.

Doug was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Margaret Ann (Eutsler) Houck. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and community.

He is also survived by his children: Michael Houck, Kimberly (Ken) Boyd, and Randolph (Rebecca) Houck. Doug’s legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren: Michael (Ashley) Parker, Rebekah Houck, Sarah Houck, Ashley Ferguson, Ryan (Anna) Johnson, Zach Johnson, Jacob Johnson, Liv Houck, Samuel (Tyna) Houck, Joseph Houck, Meghan (Dylan) Shockley, Benjamin (Kayleigh) Boyd. He was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren: Blakely, Cannon, Garrett, Halley, Aria, Eleanor, Lennon, and Adaline. Doug is additionally survived by his brother John (Lynne) Houck.

Doug proudly served his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Bel Air Fire Department for over 25 years. He worked as a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service, retiring after more than 38 years of dedicated service. Doug was a past Deacon at Oak Grove Baptist Church, where he also participated in the church’s beloved Christmas Tree performances.

In his younger years, Doug was an accomplished baseball catcher and was even offered a minor league position with the Pittsburgh Pirates. A passionate golfer and enthusiastic sports fan, Doug also enjoyed ballroom dancing with his wife, Margaret.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Doug’s memory to the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Department at 109 S Hickory Avenue, Bel Air, MD or bavfc.org

Doug will be remembered for his kind spirit, unwavering faith, and lifelong dedication to his family, friends, and community.
