Douglas Dwight Hill, age 81, of Jarrettsville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025 in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Levelland, Texas on May 8, 1944 he was the son of Oren and Louise (Smith) Hill.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Karen, his loving son, Christopher (J.J.) Hill and his adoring grandchildren Brayden, Spencer and Kacey Hill. He is also survived by his brother, Rick (Linda) Hill of Grants Pass, Oregon, nieces Melanie Nelson, Susan Nagel, Misty Hiner, Tausha Lell, Heather Hill and nephew, Cliff Hiner along with several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Judy Hiner and Regina Tristan and brother-in-law, Don Gunther.

Doug joined the Navy in 1965, and was stationed in San Diego, Da Nang, Viet Nam and Norfolk on the USS Vulcan. He was honorably discharged in 1969. He attended school at Eastern New Mexico University where he met his future wife, Karen.

Doug was a steel detailer/draftsman for Glenco in Clovis, New Mexico for many years and worked out of his home doing steel detailing after retirement. He loved working outdoors and taking care of his yard. In his younger years, he did woodworking and built furniture, some of which is still used today. He loved traveling, going camping, fishing and gathering around a campfire.

In 2021, Doug and Karen moved from Clovis, New Mexico to Maryland to be closer to family. He cherished spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren grow.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Indian Lake Christian Camp (www.indianlakecamp.org/camp-donation/) or a favorite charity in his memory.
