Douglas Glenn Hammer, of Bel Air, MD, died at the age of 79 on November 25, 2016 in Bel Air. He was born in Norton, VA to Russell Lee and Myrtle Lucille (Jones) Hammer. He was a graduate of Rising Sun High School and a resident of Harford County since 1960. He worked for Aberdeen Proving Ground from where he retired after 27 years. He was a skilled woodworker and custom cabinet maker by trade, he enjoyed and loved his family and time spent with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending time camping and going to the beach. He was a fan of Gospel Bluegrass music and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors including his wife of 61 years, Nancy Hammer; his children, Russell Hammer of Salisbury, Randy Hammer and wife Karen, of Berlin, Dana Morrison and husband, William, of White Marsh, Robin Hammer of Clifton Park, NY and Rodney Hammer and Vicky Miller of Jarrettsville; his brother, Donald Hammer of Clifton Park, NY; and his sisters Mary Evans of Oxford, PA and Shirley Dean of Nottingham, PA. Most fondly, Mr. Hammer is survived by 11 grandchildren, Ross and Rex Hammer of Salisbury, Matthew, Sara, Emlyn and Ian Hammer of Berlin, Christopher Morrison of White Marsh, April Rosamilia, Ryan and Kyle Hammer of Clifton Park, NY, and Danielle Geffel of Baltimore; and eight great grandchildren. He was predeceased in death by his brothers, James Russell, and Henry Bishop Hammer and infant grandson, Andrew Morrison.
