Donald Faber Staib, Jr. age 82, of Joppatowne, Maryland, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025.
Born in Maryland on November 9, 1942, he was the son of the late Donald Faber Staib, Sr. and Barbara (North) Staib. Besides his parents, Donald was also preceded in death by his loving middle son, Daniel Staib, and his precious infant grandson, Garrett Staib.
Donald is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 55 years, Linda Ann (Baker)Staib, his amazing and loving sons, Donald (“Duffy”) Staib and David Staib. And as Gdad, his creative and cherished granddaughters Cierra Staib, Alyssa Staib, and Delaney Staib.He is also survived by his dear brother Parker Staib and his wife Linda and nephews, nieces and grand nieces.
A proud Veteran, Donald as SFC, served faithfully in the Maryland Army National Guard for 27 years! He spent time in Germany and served diligently during many serious activation crises in Maryland! One of his proudest commendations was received for participating in a rescue operation removing passengers off a burning train!
Donald was a dedicated worker in Technology for almost 30 years. He worked as a Software Engineer for the DC Government Taxi Commission and later there, as a Security Officer!
Donald was very active in his Community! He was an Officer in the Knights of Columbus in Joppatowne! With that, he was involved in the Knights’ Community support activities of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism!
In the Optimist Club of Maryland , Donald worked with the Mariner Point Swim Club in Joppatowne with the youth for water safety, competitive swimming and lifeguard training!
Donald was an officer and active member of the Joppatowne Garden Club! He received a certificate of recognition for his years of diligent work maintaining the trees on the mound as you enter Joppatowne!
As an active American Red Cross advocate, Donald dedicated many years of donating his platelets every month to help save lives!
Donald was an avid fan of all Maryland sports! He liked to attend their home team games and also, really enjoyed Drag Racing competitions and NASCAR! Going to the Gun Range was fun and competitive for him, too!
At age 80, he proudly became a Door Dasher proving his energetic and hard working spirit never slowed!
All of us will miss his strength, his caring, his creative abilities, his optimism, his special sense of humor and the person he was!
Donald…. You will be remembered, always loved and in our hearts forever!
A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at
Holy Spirit Catholic Church: 540 Joppa Farm Road, Joppatowne, MD 21085 on Monday, November 10th at 11am!
