Donald proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy. He dedicated two years of his life aboard the USS Solley during his service from 1960 to 1962. Donald was a respected member of the AARP.
An amiable soul, Donald found great joy in the company of his family, particularly his grandchildren, whom he adored beyond measure. He enjoyed traveling and socializing with friends and family. In his younger years, Donald and Sandy enjoyed dancing and were quite good dancers.
Donald will be lovingly remembered by his devoted daughters, Tracy (Phillip) Crouse and Nicole Shumway-(Michael) Miller, and his cherished grandchildren, Mildred Haper, Emmaline Haper, and Jeffrey Haper.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanie Shumway.
In memory of Donald, contributions may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church at 1021 St. Mary’s Road, Pylesville, MD 21132, or to the Gilchrist Center for Hospice Care at 11311 McCormick Road Suite 350, Hunt Valley, MD 21031.
Donald's kindness, warmth, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
