Demetra Annos Kanaras

Demetra Annos Kanaras, age 74, of Bel Air, MD, passed away on July 1, 2013 at her home. Born in Sparta, Greece, she came to America in 1954. She was the daughter of the late George and Evagelia Mandris Annos. She helped her husband with the Red Fox Restaurant in Bel Air and in 1984, she left there to help her two sons, Chris and Tom, open the Box Hill Pizzeria in Abingdon which has been in business for 29 years. She loved her customers and had worked up to two weeks before she passed away. She volunteered at her church, had many friends and loved to bake and entertain guests. She and her husband enjoyed going to Aruba and Ocean City, MD and she loved her grandchildren who were the "apple of her eye". The family would like to thank Johns Hopkins, with a special thanks to Dr. John Fetting, and Gilchrist Hospice, and to Dana who took care of her at the end.

Mrs. Kanaras is survived by her husband of 54 years, George Kanaras; sons, Thomas G. Kanaras of Bel Air and Christian G. Kanaras and wife, Margaret, of Fallston; sisters, Catherine Annos Nichols of Baltimore and Voula Papadakos of Sparta, Greece; and grandchildren, Nico, Alexis, Kristen and Nicole In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Thomas G. Annos.
