In Loving Memory of Debra Joan McLaurin

On January 7, 2024, the world lost a remarkable woman as Debra Joan McLaurin, age67, entered into eternal rest. Debra was the cherished wife of Konstantinos Paraskevaidis, and together they celebrated 39 years of a loving and devoted marriage.

A pillar of strength and love for her family, Debra was the proud mother of Denise Detamore, Evgenia Nicole Byrne, and her husband Josh, as well as Angelo and Paris Paraskevaidis. She embraced the role of YiaYia with honor and adoration, leaving an indelible mark on her cherished grandchildren: Konstadina Detamore, Athena Byrne, Sofia Byrne, Kross Hauser, and Evgenios “Jay” Byrne. She was preceded in death by hermother, Patsy Ann White (nee Shifflett), her sisters; Vivian Sanson & Linda Stefanaras; and nephew, Anthony Benitez. She leaves behind brothers, sisters, and countless nieces and nephews.

Debra’s life was a tapestry woven with threads of life, laughter, love, strength, and much more. A shared love for shopping became a special bond between Debra and her daughter, Denise. She spent many years sharing her love for cooking, imparting traditional recipes to her daughter, Nickey. Debra’s vibrant spirit was further illuminated by her quick-witted banter, a humorous and cherished aspect of her relationship with her son, Angelo. Their exchanges were filled with laughter and a unique connection that will be fondly remembered by those who had the privilege of witnessing it. Her unwavering protectiveness towards her son, Paris, is a testament to the depth of her maternal love.

Beyond her roles within the family, Debra was a dedicated notary public, serving her community with integrity and commitment for an extended period. She was a long time member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church. Later in life she volunteered countless hours dispersing food on the weekends at a food pantry. She took great pride in helping others when she could.

As we mourn the loss of Debra Joan McLaurin, let us also celebrate the beautiful tapestry of her life. Her love, warmth, generosity, and the joy she found in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, will forever echo in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace, and may her memory be a blessing to us all.
