Debra L. Hughes, age 69, of Aberdeen, MD passed away on July 31, 2026. Born in Baltimore, MD, she was the beloved daughter of the late William Howard Boothe Jr. and Myrna Fay (Farris) Fruend, and the devoted wife of the late Raymond Woodrow Hughes.

Debra never met a stranger. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and was known for striking up conversations wherever she went. Her generous spirit and caring heart made her the person her family could always count on, especially when it came to planning and helping with family gatherings and special events.

One of her favorite traditions was attending Baltimore Orioles games with William and other family members, creating cherished memories that will be remembered for years to come. She was an exceptional cook and homemaker who took great pride in caring for those she loved.

Debra had a special place in her heart for children. She adored the children in her family and loved watching them open their Christmas gifts, finding as much joy in giving as they did in receiving. Her love extended beyond her own family, as she welcomed neighborhood children with warmth and affection, virtually adopting several of them as her own.

Christmas was one of Debra's favorite times of the year. Setting up the family Christmas tree and sharing in all the traditions that surrounded the season brought her immense happiness and created treasured memories for everyone who celebrated with her.

She also found joy in the simple things that reflected her personality. She was a devoted fan of Winnie the Pooh, and the Pooh-themed gifts William gave her over the years were among her most treasured possessions. Her favorite color was purple, and she had a special fondness for giraffes—small reminders of the things that made her smile.

Debra is survived by her loving son William Hughes; her friend Lisa Blow; siblings Robert Boothe, Cindy Boothe and Dawn Gordon; niece Natalie Daughton; and nephew Marcus Daughton. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Billy Boothe.

Debra will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, welcoming spirit, and the love she so freely shared with her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
