Deacon Edward Stansbury

December 7, 1927 — December 25, 2013

Edward Stansbury of Perryville, died December 25, 2013. He was 86. Born December 7, 1927 in Cecil County, he was the son of the late Charles Johnson and Florence Stansbury. He received his education in Elkton and Havre de Grace. He was employed at Aberdeen Proving Ground. Leaving there, he traveled to the State of Florida settling in as a produce inspector in the agricultural field. From Florida, he traveled to the northern states and settled in Rochester, NY. Mr. Stansbury worked at the Genesee Hospital as a cook.

He met his wife Emily K. Stansbury at the Covenant Community Church. As he put it, she was the woman he would spend the rest of his life with. He was ordained a Deacon in 1990 under the leadership of Pastor Reginald McGill, New Life Fellowship Church, Rochester, NY. Mr. Stansbury retired from the Genesee Hospital after 21 years. He and his wife decided to make Maryland their home. He was a member of New Covenant Church of God in Bel Air and Coordinator for the House of Manna. Also, he was with the Nursing and Retirement Home Ministry. Mr. Stansbury worked with other ministries outside of New Covenant Church. Mr. Stansbury was an active member of Evangel Assembly of God at the time of his death.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Emily K. Stansbury; sister, Yvonne and husband George Wyatt; brother, Albert Johnson; cousins, Carol Stansbury Taylor, Claudell and Lee Taylor; and nephews , nieces, cousins and many friends.
