David Wallace Jarvis, Sr.

David was born on March 13, 1938, in Havre De Grace Maryland to the late William E. Jarvis, Sr. and Dorothy E. Young, He was the second child of seven children. David graduated from (Central Consolidated School). David lived his whole life in Harford County Maryland.

David had a wide range of work experience. He started as a teenager working with his family business cutting down trees and lawn care. He worked for Martin Marrietta in Joppa and retired from Bethlehem steel at the age of 48, later becoming an auto mechanic and co-owner at the 76 truck stop in Baltimore County. He was the owner operator of the David Jarvis Trucking company he started in 1977. He was employed at American Trucking in Baltimore County, until he retired at the age of 86 in September 2024.

David was a great man, loved by everyone. He loved to talk to everyone he met. He lived a simple life. He enjoyed fishing, trucking, traveling, and working (meeting the man in the morning as he would say. But most of all he loved spending time with his children and their families, and his grandbabies as he called them.

David and his wife Phyllis leave to cherish in memory Seven children. Terri Lee (Dino) Thompson, David Wallace Jarvis Jr, Phillip C Jarvis (Melanie), Thomas Edward Jarvis deceased, Bruce Allen Jarvis (Regina), Robert C Jarvis (Aretha), Kim Alesia Stokes (Deangelo), and Jill Renee Jarvis. His Brothers William, Samuel, Frederick (Betty), sister-in-law Kittiya Jarvis; a host of grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Great Great Grandchildren and Great Great Great Grandchildren: and a host of nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

David was predeceased in death by his wife Phyllis Inez Wanzer Jarvis (11/10/2008) and his infant son Thomas Edward Jarvis (4/26/1962), His parents, William and Dorothy Jarvis, his Brothers Edward Young, James Jarvis Sr, and his only sister Gloria Franklin whom he loved dearly. His Grandson Michael Anthony Lee (08/04/1990) and David Christopher Jarvis (2/22/2015), and Great Grandson Uriah King Richard Williams (11/15/2022).

The Family will be holding a private service for him on August 31, 2025. His interment will be at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens,10201 Bird River Rd, Baltimore, Md 21220 at a later date.

The Family of David Jarvis Sr wishes to take this opportunity to express their sincere appreciation for every thought, labor of love and act of kindness. We thank you very much from the bottom of our hearts.
