Obituary

David Lee Boys, age 75, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026 at his home in Bel Air, Maryland.

Born in Delaware, David was the son of the late Walter Boys and the late Alice Ethel (Oliver) Boys. He was the devoted husband of the late Gail Boys with whom he shared a loving marriage.

David proudly served his country in the United States Army for twelve years. During his military career, he achieved the rank of Captain and was later promoted to Major. Following his service, he dedicated forty years to the safety of his country with distinction as a government employee with the National Security Agency (NSA), where his coworkers affectionately dubbed him the "Bald Eagle." Among his many accomplishments in foreign lands, he played a key role in dismantling tanks in Russia.

A man of many interests, David was an avid reader who especially enjoyed science fiction, alternative history, and military history books. He was a passionate traveler who explored nearly every state in the country as well as numerous international destinations. His love of history and adventure extended to collecting international memorabilia, building model airplanes, attending airshows with his family, and visiting the Maryland Renaissance Festival and Medieval Times. He also enjoyed computer games, sampling international beers, and was a devoted fan of Star Wars, Star Trek, Batman, and the Baltimore Ravens.

David was an avid firearms collector and enjoyed taking his daughter to the gun range. Above all, he was devoted to his family. He was nurturing in his own unique way, a thoughtful and caring man who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was an excellent listener, known for his quick wit, unforgettable "dad jokes," and genuine desire to help others. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose great intentions, kindness, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

David is survived by his beloved children, Cindy Boys (daughter) and Brian Boys (son); his cherished grandchildren, Teresa Marie Jimenez, Morgan Leigh Boys and her partner, Isiah Jones; his adored great-grandchildren, Marvin Barnes, Milana Barnes, and Malachi Jones; and his sister, Barbara Ann Boys.

In addition to his beloved wife, Gail Boys, David was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Boys and Alice Ethel (Oliver) Boys, and his brother, Raymond Boys.
