Daniel Thomas Zapalowicz

Daniel Thomas Zapalowicz, aged 69, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on June 8, 2024, at Sterling Care Forest Hill in Forest Hill, Maryland. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Theodore and Clara (Szumlanski) Zapalowicz and the beloved husband of Susan (Hammerbacher) Zapalowicz. Daniel dedicated 33 years of his life as a lieutenant firefighter and instructor at Baltimore City Fire Academy, leaving an indelible mark on his community. He was married to Susan for 40 years, a testament to their enduring love and commitment.

Daniel's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family and his passion for serving others. He cherished his role as a husband and father, finding joy in every moment spent with his loved ones. As a firefighter, he displayed courage, compassion, and selflessness in the face of danger, earning the respect and admiration of all who knew him.

Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Susan Zapalowicz; two daughters, Stephanie Violante and her husband Paul and  Sara Zapalowicz; son, Michael Zapalowicz and his wife Samantha; and granddaughter Cecelia Violante. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his brother, Theodore Raymond Zapalowicz.
