Daniel Allen Dickerson, Sr.

September 30, 1950 — May 19, 2025

Daniel Allen Dickerson, Sr., age 74, of Joppa, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 19, 2025. Born in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the late Ralph Emerson Dickerson and Lorraine Mary Albertson (Bolle).

Daniel is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Linda Dickerson (née Smith), who remained his steadfast partner through life’s many journeys. He was a devoted father to Daniel Dickerson, Jr., Amber (Te-Rah) Hendricks, Christine (Amador) Galindo, Sherry Marshall (Rolando Juarez), Cathy Johnson (Matt Hall). He was also a cherished grandfather to Kaitlin (JoAnn) Dickerson, Sarah (Aaron) Sturtz, Aurelie Galindo, Carolena Galindo, Victoria Galindo, Sophia Hendricks, Samantha Hendricks, Alecia (Rebeka) Coughlin, Megan Marshall, Roxylynn Tolley, and Colton "Bubba" Hall. Daniel was blessed to welcome his great-granddaughter, Charlie Coughlin, into the world.

He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Brawner and Rochel Albertson (Chris Atkinson), former spouse Mary Louise Dickerson, and son-in-law, Jonathan Marshall. In addition to his immediate family, Daniel leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews, including his beloved nieces, Cassandra Kane, Cynthia Bond, and Melissa Clark with whom he had a special bond.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Lorraine, and his brothers, Billy Dickerson, and Bobby Albertson.

Daniel proudly retired in 1999 after 30 years of service as a welder with Crown Cork & Seal. Never one to sit still, he held several part-time jobs following retirement. Of those roles, his most fulfilling work was at Father Martin’s Ashley Addiction Treatment Center in Havre de Grace, where he found purpose in helping others on their path to recovery.

He loved nothing more than spending time with his family. Whether it was hosting lively poker games, taking trips to Atlantic City, or sharing laughter with his grandchildren at amusement parks, Daniel relished every moment. In his retirement, he also enjoyed traveling to destinations including Hawaii, Las Vegas, and the Caribbean Islands.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Father Martin’s Ashley Addiction Treatment Center or to the charity of your choice.
