Cynthia Louise Jones

March 4, 1962 — July 12, 2025

Cynthia Caughill Jones, of Forest Hill, MD, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on July 12, 2025. She was 63 years old. Born in Baltimore on March 4, 1962, she was the beloved daughter of the late Norman John Caughill and Mary Elizabeth Matthews.

A graduate of John Carroll High School, Class of 1980, Cindy married the love of her life Steven Mark Jones with whom she shared nearly 40 years of marriage and raised two children. She was at her happiest with a book in hand, traveling to a new place, or revisiting an old favorite.

Cindy found deep fulfillment in her 30-year career in nuclear medicine at Johns Hopkins, Franklin Square, and Good Samaritan hospitals. She relished her ability to provide a calming and reassuring presence to patients at their most vulnerable and cherished her lifelong relationships with her colleagues.

Diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2017, Mrs. Jones faced the challenge as she did all things in life— with beauty, grace, and humor. She took personal pride in beating every odd and faced each new obstacle with perspective and optimism. Her determination was inspirational, her love—infectious, and her gratitude—unending.

She spent the final years of her life traveling the world with her beloved, vacationing in Ocean City with family and friends, and doting on her granddaughters.

Her greatest joy was her family and to her family she was true north—their constant source of motivation and a reminder of all that is pure and true. She will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her adoring husband, Steven of Forest Hill; sisters, Kathleen (Charles) Delacruz of Fairfax, Virginia and Pamela (Scott) Brennan of Hampstead; children, Matthew (Emily) Jones of Parkton and Alison Jones of Bel Air; and her cherished granddaughters, Elizabeth and Julia.

The family would like to extend their unending gratitude to friends, extended family, and caretakers who provided support throughout these past several years. Your generosity knew no bounds.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition.
