Clarence Chester Calvert, 98 years of age, of Forest Hill, MD, passed away on March 6, 2014 at Gilchrist Hospice Care in Towson, MD. He was preceded in death by his wife Kathryn L. Calvert and his sister, Ada Jean Whitcomb of Smithville, West Virginia.
He was born Nov. 12, 1915 at Bullion, PA, Venango County to the late Sidney G. and Hattie V. Calvert. Mr. Calvert was a 1933 graduate of Pleasantville High School and a graduate of Welch's Business College, Oil City, PA. He was an employee of Universal Cyclops Steel Corporation and employed in the oil fields. Mr. Calvert worked for the United States Postal Service in Pleasantville, PA where he retired as Postmaster in 1972. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Pleasantville, PA where he served as clerk of the session, choir member, and participated in numerous other church activities. He served as: President of Pleasantville Borough Council, President of Venango Co. National Association of Postmasters and was a member of the Lyons Club of Pleasantville and Kiwanis Club of Clermont, Florida.
He is survived by his daughter Sally Sheffler, wife of John W. of Cresent, PA. and his son Richard, husband of Margaret L. of Forest Hill, MD. Also surviving are four grandchildren, their spouses and seven great-grandchildren.
