Obituary

Claire Shelia Sopher, age 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Claire was the beloved daughter of the late Herman Cornblatt and Annette (Levinson) Cornblatt.

Claire lived a vibrant and meaningful life marked by creativity, compassion, faith, and a genuine love for others. She worked as a teacher and later devoted time to promotional work for local artists, helping to support and celebrate the creative talents of her community. Artistic by nature, she enjoyed crafts and expressing herself through creativity.

Claire had a special affection for animals, and animals seemed to love her just as much. Her contagious laugh brought joy to those around her, and she cherished music and dancing throughout her life. Deeply religious and spiritual, Claire was an avid reader who enjoyed studying spirituality and was a lifelong learner, always seeking knowledge and personal growth.

Claire had her own fashion style and took pride in her appearance. She was often seen wearing vibrant colors and always enjoyed looking put together. She was a healthy foodie; eating lots of vegetables, fruits and lean meat her entire life. In recent years, she was a resident of Sterling Care Riverside Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Belcamp, where she was beloved by many residents and staff members whose lives she touched with her warmth, kindness, and engaging personality.

Claire was preceded in death by her daughter, Heather Sopher; her sister, Eudyce Ball; and her brother, Elliott Cornblatt.

She is lovingly survived by her daughters, Jan Miller and her husband, David Miller, and Karen Sarkis and her husband, Peter Sarkis, along with many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.

Family and friends will remember Claire for her joyful spirit, unwavering faith, love of learning, artistic talents, kindness toward animals, and the warmth she brought into every room. Her vibrant personality and infectious laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
