Christina Ann LaGreca, 82, of Media, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, April 23, 2026.
Born and raised in the heart of South Philadelphia, Christina grew up in a vibrant Italian neighborhood where family, faith, and food were inseparable. Here, her family's kitchen was the center of everything, and the local parish was the heartbeat of the community, fostering a deep, lifelong faith that anchored her through every chapter of life.
While working at the iconic John Wanamaker’s department store in Center City, she met the love of her life, Russell LaGreca. After marrying, the two set their sights south, in pursuit of warmer weather. They only made it as far as Bel Air, Maryland, before deciding they had found exactly where they were meant to be.
In Bel Air, she traded the row homes of Philly for a life centered on raising her three children, enjoying the beauty of Maryland's landscapes, building a network of loving friends and serving her community. Christina was a constant presence at her children’s schools and local parishes, always the first to volunteer her time and the last to leave the kitchen. Her home was a gathering place where the door was always open and no one ever left hungry. Lessons she learned from her mother.
In recent years, Christina returned to the Philadelphia area to be closer to her roots and her growing family. She found her greatest joy in her role as "Grandmom," dedicating time to her nine grandchildren. To them, she was an endless source of love, wisdom, and, of course, the best Sunday dinners imaginable. They will forever cherish the lessons she taught them about the importance of following in Christ's footsteps, leading a healthy lifestyle, finding beauty in nature, and showing up for the people you love.
She is survived by her loving children, Sundai (Robert) Valcich, Russell M. (Jennifer) LaGreca, and Joy (Benjamin) Catanese; and her cherished grandchildren, Nick, Robbie, Margherite, Max, Luna, Annie, Rocco, Penny, and Millie.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Christina’s life at a Mass held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Margaret Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Bel Air Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Christina’s memory to Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF).
