Charlotte Ann Kozak

September 7, 1941 — May 19, 2025

Charlotte Ann Kozak, age83, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025, at Stella Maris.

Born on September 7, 1941, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Charlotte earned her bachelor's degree from Duquesne University and went on to become a beloved middle school teacher at Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

Early in her life, Charlotte volunteered with the American Red Cross and proudly served as a "Donut Dolly" during the Vietnam War, participating in the Supplemental Recreation Activities Overseas (SRAO) program. Her work helped lift the spirits of countless American service members far from home.

After returning from Vietnam, Charlotte met and married the love of her life, Peter Kozak, on August 31, 1968. As an Army wife, she embraced the challenges and joys of military life, raising three children with unwavering devotion. Charlotte and Peter found great pride in their children's academic and athletic achievements and could often be found cheering from the sidelines at lacrosse, football and field hockey games.

A proud Pittsburgh Steelers fan, she enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting, and especially doting on her eight cherished grandchildren: Kayla, Jake, Krista, Michael, Jillian, Jorden, Declan, and Sean.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Peter T. Kozak; her children, Michael (Colleen), John (Janis), and Mary Beth (Charles); and her grandchildren, who brought her immense joy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ann Stanett, and her brother, Charles.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross, an organization close to Charlotte's heart. A memorial service will be held at Stella Maris at a date later this summer.
