Charlie L. Head

July 8, 1935 — January 12, 2015

Charles (Charlie) L. Head, 79, of Bel Air, MD passed away on January 12, 2015 at his home. Born in Winchester, VA, he was the son of the late Walter Lester and Hilda Pauline Bowman Head. He was a veteran of the National Guard of MD and a reserve of the U.S. Army and very supportive of our military and the Wounded Warrior Project. Charlie was a member of the Mt. Ararat Lodge in Bel Air and St. Matthews Lutheran Church, and was a Lifetime Member of the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company. He adored and loved spending time with his family including his four-legged grand dogs.

Charlie was passionate about golfing and closely following the Baltimore Ravens. He regularly partook in a "good road trip through the county," as well as traveling to Nashville and other popular country music venues throughout the country. He also maintained life-long love affair with trains.
Charlie served for many years as the chief of the photographic darkroom at The Aegis in Bel Air. He also performed roles as a staff photographer and reporter for the community newspaper. He was instrumental in the publication of The Aegis on a weekly basis, developing all the film, making 'velox' prints, and assisting with layout. He was also instrumental in helping news reporters "learn the ropes" of photography.

"He was the 'go to guy' for all the reporters, we were given cameras and told to report our results to Charlie. We did just that, because Charlie was all business when it came to photography," commented Todd Holden who worked with him for six years. Charlie retired from The Aegis after 41 years of service.

Mr. Head is survived by his wife of 60 years, E. Corina Elliott Head; daughters, Connie S. Rhodes and husband, David Sr., of Baltimore and Peggy D. Eibner and husband, Gregory, of Bel Air; brothers, James Head of Dublin, Linwood Head of Bel Air and Robert Head of Warner Robins, GA; granddaughter, Morgan A. Eibner of Bel Air; special family members Tina, Rob and Lewis Behnken, Kelly, Brian and Austin Jerolleman and David Rhodes, Jr. along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Jeffery C. Head; brother, Walter L. Head Jr. and sister, Barbara Lowman.

Donations in his memory are being accepted by the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Department, 109 South Hickory Avenue, Bel Air, MD 21014 or you may make checks payable to the Jeffery C. Head Scholarship Fund at APGFCU, P.O. Box 1176, Aberdeen, MD 21001. The Jeffery C.
