Charles Hanson Reier

August 16, 1956 — May 14, 2025

Charles Hanson Reier, Sr., 68, of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, in Baltimore. Born and raised in Baltimore, he was the son of the late David Andrew Reier and the late Thelma (Hanson) Reier.

Charles is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Helen Marie (Tosh) Reier. The couple was married on September 24, 1977, and together built a loving home centered around family and togetherness.

He was a proud graduate of Mergenthaler Vocational Technical High School, where he studied Machine Shop. Charles dedicated over 45 years of his career as a Tool and Die Maker with Maryland Precision Spring Company, where his talent and work ethic earned him the admiration of many.

Charles found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid fan of football, baseball, hockey, and especially NASCAR. A Baltimore sports enthusiast through and through, he grew up near Memorial Stadium, cheering on his beloved Orioles and Colts. Charles also had a passion for drumming, fishing, and cookouts with his family. He once tried his hand at golf but famously broke his ankle in Myrtle Beach.

A natural fixer and gifted artist, Charles loved to work with his hands—whether it was building his family home or repairing anything that came his way. Most of all, he cherished time spent with his loved ones and will be deeply missed by his family and his rescue dog, Miss Peanut.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Reier; his son, Charles Reier, Jr., and daughter-in-law Johanna Reier; his daughter, Jessica Tawney and son-in-law Chris Tawney and his children Kendall and Carter Tawney; his grandson, Samuel Reier; his brothers, David “Andy” Reier and Allen Reier; and his sister, Thelma Lovett.

Charles will be remembered for his deep love for his family, his sense of humor, his craftsmanship, and the warmth he brought to all who knew him.
