Charles E. Hrzic (Charlie), 82, of Edgewood, MD, passed away Wednesday, May 8th, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, Bel Air, MD, after suffering from cardiac arrest. He was born in Altoona, PA, on November 17, 1941, son of the late Anna Hrzic-Zajac.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 47 years, Mary JoAnn (Mangold) Hrzic and stepfather, August Zajac.

Surviving him are his daughters, Julia Hrzic and Christine Taylor (Brian), and granddaughters, Anna, Caroline, and Katherine. In addition to his children and granddaughters, he is survived by sisters-in-laws Marian Billet (John) and Jean Clifford (Glenn), and brothers-in-law Harry Mangold (Lucille) and Bernard Erdossy (Debbie) and his companion Helen Hollandsworth. 

Charles graduated from Altoona High school in 1959. He enlisted in the US Army and received an honorable discharge in 1963. Charles also was a graduate of RETS Technical College and received an associate degree in electronics. He was employed on the assembly line at General Motors for 30 years before retirement.

Charles was an avid outdoor sportsman. He loved fishing, crabbing, boating, and hunting. He and his friends made multiple trips to their hunting camp in East Freedom, PA. Charles loved spectator sports rooting for the Old Baltimore Colts, Ravens, Orioles, and Penn State Football. In his childhood and early adult years in the Army, he enjoyed playing baseball.

A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Mark Catholic Church, Fallston, MD, on June 14, at 10:30 AM. On June 22, at 9:30 AM, a mass will be offered at St Rose of Lima Church in Altoona, Pa. followed by th interment of Charles and his wife JoAnn at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Brittany Rescue and Adoption Network.
