Cecilia T. Walters, age 89, of Abingdon, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2026.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Cecilia was the beloved daughter of the late Carmelo Modesto and the late Elvira Linda (Olga) Modesto.
Cecilia was the devoted wife of Donald Walters, with whom she shared 68 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a loving home centered on faith, family, and hospitality.
A dedicated homemaker, Cecilia found her greatest joy in caring for her children and grandchildren. She was the ultimate housewife who took great pride in creating a warm and welcoming home for everyone who entered. She loved cooking and baking for family and friends, and many cherished memories were made around her table. Cecilia was very social and especially enjoyed hosting her Bunko club at her home. Above all else, God and her family were the center of her life. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother, an exceptional grandmother, and a loving presence whose kindness and generosity touched all who knew her.
Cecilia was preceded in death by her parents, Carmelo Modesto and Elvira Linda (Olga) Modesto; her brothers, Marion Modesto and Anthony Modesto; her sisters, Tina Nierwienski, Mary Gerick, Anna Rossi, and Helen Szczepaniak; and her daughter-in-law, Kathy Walters.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Donald Walters; her sons, Mark Walters and Timothy (Barbara) Walters; her grandchildren, Amy (Chris) Panzer, Brooke Walters, Carley (Andrew) Mpasiakos, Ryan (Brianna) Walters, Donald (Abby) Walters, and Devin (Ashley) Walters; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Caroline Panzer, Violet Panzer, Parker Walters, Estella Walters, Kylie Walters, and Isla Walters.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Donald Walters to assist with providing a Garden Wall Plaque at Gilchrist Towson, or donations may be made directly to Gilchrist Towson in Cecilia's memory.
