Carol Gegorek (Nee Otto), age 77, of Abingdon, Maryland, passed away on June 28, 2024, at Senator Bob Hooper House in Forest Hill, Maryland. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Julius and Arlene (Bickford) Otto and the beloved wife of the late Frank Albert Gegorek.
Carol was a vibrant and social individual who cherished her family above all else. She was a proud member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 5337. Known for her infectious laughter and love for dancing, Carol appeared on the Buddy Dean Show in the 1960s. A devoted fan of the Baltimore Ravens.
An animal lover and avid birdwatcher, Carol enjoyed the company of her cats and took great pleasure in maintaining several bird feeders around her home.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Deanne (Jim) Schildt and Joanne (Tony) Cantler; her cherished grandchildren, Steven (Melanie) Cantler, Kara (Glen) Weber, and Emily Schildt; her precious great-grandchildren, Noah Cantler, Luna Cantler, and Jameson Weber; her dear brother, Mike "Terry" Otto; and her loving sister, Kim Blische.
In addition to her parents and husband, Carol was preceded in death by her sisters, Joan Conway and Nancy Marciniak, and her brother, Larry Otto.
Carol's warmth, humor, and unwavering devotion to her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
