Betty J. Dunham

Betty J. Dunham, age 88, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 14, 2026, with her loving family close by. Born in Big Sandy, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late William Harvey Gibson, Sr. and Virginia Cecile (Moxley) Cook. She was the devoted wife of the late Windsor “Bud” Dunham, Jr., with whom she shared 58 years of marriage.

First and foremost, Betty loved her family above all else. Her home was her pride and joy, and it was often the gathering place for family celebrations and holidays. She loved welcoming everyone into her home and cooking for those she loved, creating countless cherished memories around the table.

Being a grandmother brought Betty tremendous joy. She especially cherished her granddaughters, Haleigh and Hannah, and took great pleasure in spoiling them and sharing a close and loving bond with each of them.

Betty also had a love for gardening and took great pride in keeping a beautiful garden. Her caring nature extended to the four-legged members of the family as well. She was the family’s beloved pet sitter and adored all her grand dogs and great-grand dogs. There never seemed to be a dog that didn’t love Betty, and they naturally gravitated toward her warmth and affection.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Carol A. Province and her husband, Leroy; son, Jeffrey J. Dunham; granddaughters, Haleigh Dykes and her husband, Steven, and Hannah Plummer; brother, John Gibson; sisters, Julia Miller and her husband, Norbet, and Carol Sayler; and many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, Betty was preceded in death by her brothers, Roy Gibson and William Gibson.
