Obituary

Basil Richard Loucas, age 83, of Forest Hill, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 22, 2026, in Baltimore, Maryland.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Basil was the son of the late Constantine Emmanuel Loucas and the late Mary (Angelitis) Loucas. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Joanna Bass; and his brother, Steven Loucas.

Basil was a lifelong learner whose passion for education and the law shaped much of his life. He earned multiple academic degrees, including a Master's Degree in Jurisprudence, and enjoyed being a dedicated student of the law. His professional pursuits included working in the Law Library at the University of Baltimore, where he found great satisfaction in helping others access knowledge and information.

An author by passion, Basil fulfilled a lifelong dream when he became a published writer. He also found great purpose in mentoring students at Catonsville Community College, encouraging and guiding them in their educational journeys. His generous spirit extended to helping special needs students and volunteering his time reading to the blind, reflecting his deep commitment to serving others and making a difference in his community.

In his younger years, Basil enjoyed playing pool and valued the friendships and camaraderie that accompanied the game. Throughout his life, he remained intellectually curious, compassionate, and dedicated to helping others learn and succeed.

Basil is survived by his loving son, Constantine (Jennifer) Loucas; his grandson, Nikolaos Loucas; and his grandson, James Bass. He will be remembered for his kindness, intelligence, generosity, and unwavering dedication to education and service.
