Barbara Lee Langenfelder

June 15, 1932 — October 28, 2025

Barbara Lee Langenfelder, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025. Born and raised in the Pigtown neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland, Barbara was the cherished daughter of George and Lena Burkhardt and sister to Bob and Betty. She often spoke fondly of her childhood home and the pride she took in scrubbing the marble stoop of their rowhouse, an early reflection of the care and dedication that would define her life.

Barbara and Kenneth, or Barb and Ken as they were affectionately known, were married in October 1954. They would move to Rosedale where they raised their family and built a life full of love, laughter, and steadfast devotion. In later years, they enjoyed their retirement in Bel Air, where they continued to cherish time with family and friends. Barb and Ken shared a remarkable 66 years of marriage before his passing in January 2021.

She is survived by her sons Keith (wife Debbie) and Kevin, grandchildren Karl, Keith Jr., Karson (wife Katie), and Krystyna Kennedy (husband George), and great-grandchildren Myah, Colton, and Talley. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, the love of her life, as well as her adored daughter-in-law Judy (husband Kevin).

Barbara worked for many years as a librarian at the Rosedale branch of the Baltimore County Public Library, a role perfectly suited to her lifelong love of reading. Her greatest accomplishment, however, was the family she nurtured. She took immense pride in caring for her loved ones and creating a warm and welcoming home.

She delighted in traveling with her family, especially on long road trips in the family camper, where she served as the ever-diligent navigator who faithfully followed her AAA TripTik and read every road sign aloud. Barbara also devoted her time to her community as a Den Mother and Sunday School teacher. She loved afternoon soap operas, John Wayne movies, and never turned down a sweet treat.

Barbara’s life was defined by love, family, and kindness. She was a steady and caring presence who will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Zion UCC General Fund in Barbara’s memory.  https://www.zionuccmd.com/giving
