Barbara June Jones

Barbara June Jones, age 84, of Joppatowne, Maryland passed away on November 20, 2023, at Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie, Maryland. Born in Cambridge Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Roy Emerson Robbins, Sr. and the late Hilda Anna Metz Robbins, and wife of 59 years to the late John William Jones of Joppatowne, Maryland.  

Barbara earned her B.A. degree in Business Administration at Notre Dame of Maryland University and was the first female CEO of the Maryland Steelworkers Credit Union in Baltimore.  She was an active member of the Towne Baptist Church in Edgewood, Maryland and was very involved with church activities.  She loved to sew and was an excellent seamstress often sewing costumes and outfits for her family and her church.  In addition, she was an avid reader, loved to travel and loved gardening with her husband, John. 

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Shirley Ann Cleveland of Glen Burnie, Maryland, son Leonard John Jones of Fayetteville, North Carolina, granddaughter, Kristin Nicole Pilgrim of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and brother, Woodrow Robbins of Raleigh, North Carolina.

In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her sister, Anna Tilghman, sister, Harriet Pritchett and brother, Roy E. Robbins, Jr.

Visitation will be held under the caring guidance of the McComas Family Funeral Home located at 1317 Cokesbury Road in Abingdon Maryland on December 9, 2023, at 2:00 pm.  The service will be at 3:00 pm with a luncheon following at Towne Baptist Church located at 536 Trimble Road in Joppatowne, Maryland.
