Barbara Burton Abbott, age 75, of Abingdon, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 14, 2026.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Barbara was the beloved daughter of the late Harold Francis Burton and the late Betty Gwyn (Duval) Burton. She was the devoted wife of Glenn Abbott, with whom she shared nearly 52 years of marriage. They were high school sweethearts.

Barbara was a dedicated special educator who took great pride in her work and the difference she made in the lives of the students she served. Her career was a source of great fulfillment, and she cared deeply about the work she did.

Barbara enjoyed shopping and took great pride in decorating her home with the things she found and loved. She had a wonderful appreciation for travel and enjoyed exploring destinations throughout the East Coast as well as traveling around the world. She was also an avid reader, with a particular fondness for British dramas.

She is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 52 years, Glenn Abbott; her daughter, Jules (Jared) Abbott; her brothers, Russell Burton and Paul Burton; her sister, Patricia Bowden-Burton; and many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.

There will be no services.
