Anne Marie Schult (nee Bourgeois) passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 27, 2026. She was born in South Euclid (Cleveland), Ohio, the second of six children born to Leo and Edna Bourgeois (nee Williams), and grew up there, attending Catholic schools before attending high school with the Sisters of Precious Blood in Dayton, Ohio. She was a 1965 graduate of University of Dayton, where she met, in her senior year, her future husband and love of her life, the late Robert Schult. Anne determined at a young age that she wanted to be an educator and had a long career, first as a math teacher, then as a long-time high school guidance counselor at Meade and Arundel High Schools. She leaves behind three children, Robert Schult (Meg), Marianne Barno (Brian), and David Schult (Hilary), as well as her grandchildren Maggie (Ruchie), Ryan, Libby, Max, and Gwendolyn Schult, and Hope and Theodore Barno. She is also survived by siblings Ed Bourgeois (Barb), Edna Ball (Stan), Chuck Bourgeois (Marlene), Mary Lou Tibble (Paul) and Marguerite Garba (Ron) and many nieces and nephews.

Anne thought of herself as a Pollyanna with a conviction that her personality would help others, even cynics. She enjoyed going to the theater, the symphony, reading, journaling, and spending time with her children and grandchildren, playing card games and Scrabble, and attending all of the concerts, games, and celebrations that she could. She hosted many summers of Camp Grandma teaching the life skills of baking, sewing, and crocheting to her grandchildren.

Anne was an avid traveler, both with her husband and with others, and especially loved her trips throughout Europe. Anne was full of stories as well, regaling others with recollections of her childhood and travels, as well as her life as an educator. She was also actively involved in supporting people in recovery and was a regular participant in book clubs and grief support. Anne spent many mornings swimming at her local YMCA and was a big supporter of her local library and public television and radio stations.
