Obituary

Anita Sills-Jones, age 73, of Edgewood, Maryland, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026. Born in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late William Sills and the late Irene (Green) Sills.

Anita was a woman full of life, warmth, and personality. She was known for helping others by preparing taxes and was always willing to lend a hand when needed. Anita found joy in life’s simple pleasures—she loved playing Bingo, working on crossword puzzles, word searches, and Sudoku, and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed spending time on Farmville and shopping on Amazon.

She had a deep love for animals, especially pigs, and cherished the memory of her late dog, Buddy. Anita was a devoted Baltimore sports fan, cheering on both the Ravens and the Orioles. She had a passion for cooking and baking, making cheesecakes for birthdays and her well-loved sweet potato pies during Christmas and Thanksgiving. She also had a fondness for crabs and crab cakes.

Anita’s favorite color was red, and she adored roses. She especially treasured Valentine’s Day, when she was lovingly spoiled by her husband with candies and flowers. She greatly enjoyed visiting her daughter Ashley and her “favorite son-in-law,” Nicholas, during their time living in Georgia.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert Lee Jones, Jr.; her children, Robert Lee (Dominique) Jones, III, Ashley Neta (Nicholas) Jefferson, and Zachary Alvin Jones; her grandchildren, Kameron, Julissa, Imani, Jordan, Kobe, and Arrow; her brother, Dr. Alvin (Dr. CreSaundra) Sills; nieces, Rachele and Alondra and her Godson Daniel Easton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Anita’s name to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
