Andrew Joseph Gallagher

Andrew Joseph Gallagher, age 87, of Forest Hill, MD, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph Francis Gallagher and Eleanor Ida (Mulroney) Gallagher. Andrew honorably served his country in the United States Army and was a proud member of Bel Air American Legion Post #39. He was also a devoted parishioner of Saint Margaret Parish for over 50 years.

Andrew retired in 1989 after 26 years of service with Lucent Technologies, where he worked as an Auditor. He was an avid basketball player, continuing to play until the age of 70, and he enjoyed following the WNBA faithfully throughout the years. A daily crossword puzzler, he kept his mind sharp and active. He loved animals and music, often whistling or singing to brighten the day. He was also a frequent visitor to the Bel Air Senior Center.

Dedicated to helping others, Andrew was a faithful volunteer with the Getting There Ride Share program, driving seniors to appointments until he was placed on hospice care.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joseph Gallagher, Jr. (Leola) and Conall Gallagher; and sisters, Eileen Stief (John "Jack"), and Alysane Bauhaus (his twin).

Andrew is survived by his sons, Brian (Natalie) Gallagher, Keith (Mary Beverly) Gallagher, Michael (Diana) Gallagher, and Daniel (Laura) Gallagher; grandchildren, Christopher Gallagher, Alyssa (R. Stephen) Thomson, Dylan Gallagher, Brianna (Jarod) Callahan, Noah Gallagher, Kayleigh Gallagher, Michaela Gallagher, Autumn Gallagher, Sarah Gallagher, Sophia Gallagher, and Eric Gallagher; sister, Jeanie Gallagher Gosseaux (Joseph "Gus"); sister-in-law, Anne Gallagher; brother-in-law, A. Jeffrey Bauhaus; as well as many nieces and nephews. Surviving is also his former wife and mother of his children, Kathleen Gallagher. 

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Margaret’s Parish in Bel Air, MD on September 22, 2025 at 10am. Inurnment to follow at Bel Air Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Getting There Ride Share, 1024 Main St., Darlington, MD 21034. Donations will be placed into a scholarship fund that will help those with low incomes receive rides.
