Amy J. McCann, age 53, of Joppa, Maryland, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2024, at Gilchrist Hospice in Towson, Maryland. Born in Buffalo, New York, she was the beloved daughter of David Pencek and the late Joanne (Quant) Pencek-Kazmierczak. Amy was the cherished wife of William McCann, Jr., with whom she shared a bond that transcended time and trials.
Amy's professional commitment was evident through her membership in the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS). Yet, her devotion extended far beyond her career. As a dedicated parishioner of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Joppa, MD, Amy found solace and strength in her faith, embodying its principles of love and compassion.
Amy's journey was adorned with love and creativity. She and Bill's romance, which ignited in August of 1995 and flourished into marriage in May of 1999, was a testament to enduring love. Her passions were as diverse as they were vibrant. From her cherished collection of Funko Pops! and stuffed animals to her appreciation for Native American Pottery, Amy's interests reflected her eclectic spirit.
Crafting was not only a hobby for Amy but also a means of artistic expression. Her plastic canvas creations, showcased at the Maryland State Fair, earned her numerous accolades, illustrating her talent and dedication. Amy's love for Marvel and Star Wars was surpassed only by her enthusiasm for sports. Whether cheering on her favorite teams in soccer, football, or hockey, Amy's fervor was unwavering. For 25 years, she and Bill proudly held season tickets for the Baltimore Blast, sharing countless memories as devoted fans.
In addition to her husband and father, Amy is survived by her adoring son, Noah William McCann of Joppa, MD; her devoted sister, Stacy Lynn (Brian) Mekelburg of Buffalo, NY; her caring brother, Jeffrey David (Kim) Pencek of Hammond, OR; her mother-in-law, Mary Cecelia McCann, and father-in-law, William Burnett McCann, Sr., both of Baltimore, MD; her dear aunt, Barbara (Paul) Earley, and her beloved niece, Madison Mekelburg.
