Obituary

Alfred Joseph “Fred” Goss, age 72, of Jarrettsville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 23, 2026.

Born in Willimantic, Connecticut, Fred was the beloved son of the late Henry Joseph Goss and the late Loretta Maria (Lambert) Goss.

Fred was the devoted husband of Carolyn Goss, with whom he shared almost 34 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, family, and lifelong friendships. He was a proud and loving father to his son, Dr. Christopher Goss, whom he especially cherished beyond measure.

Fred is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Goss; his son, Dr. Christopher Goss; and his sisters, Linda Pharmer and Debbie Komery. In addition to his parents, Henry and Loretta Goss, he was preceded in death by many beloved family members and friends whose memories he carried with him throughout his life.

Fred enjoyed life to the fullest and found happiness in simple pleasures. He loved swimming, spending time at the beach, laying in the sun, and cooling off with a dip in the pool. He was also an avid tennis enthusiast. Above all else, Fred treasured time spent with his family and friends. Whether sharing stories, laughter, or a good bottle of wine with lifelong friends whose friendships spanned 40 and 50 years, Fred created lasting memories everywhere he went.

Professionally, Fred dedicated more than 30 years to Sally Beauty Company, where he served as Executive Vice President of Store Operations for the Northeast Region. He was respected and admired by countless co-workers throughout his successful career.

Fred also had a deep love for animals, especially his dogs and cats, who brought him great comfort and joy over the years.

Those who knew Fred will remember his warm spirit, his loyalty to those he loved, and the happiness he brought into every room. When he was with his family, it was unlike anything else in the world.

Fred would not want anyone to be saddened by his passing. Instead, he would want everyone to remember the happier times, to smile when they think of him, and to know how thankful he was for each person who was part of his journey through life. Until we meet again. Keep smiling.
