Alfred Gigliotti, age 84, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2026, in Forest Hill. Born in Baltimore, Alfred lived a full and independent life marked by intellectual curiosity, service to others, and a deep appreciation for culture and learning.
Alfred was the beloved son of Bernardo Anthony Gigliotti and Doris Ruth (Tawes) Gigliotti, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a devoted father to Lisa (Dwayne) Jones and Angela Moyna. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Donald Jones, Stephanie Johnson, Megan Bliss, Eric Moyna, and Kelsey Quinn, and a cherished great-grandfather to seven great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his siblings: Patricia Sacco, Thomas Gigliotti, Judy Legal, Mary Frances Veber, Mary Ann Lawrence, and Theresa Foster, and many loving nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Alfred was an avid hiker who found joy and peace in nature. A lifelong learner and member of MENSA, he enjoyed staying busy and keeping his mind engaged and enriched. His love of education and intellectual pursuit was reflected in his volunteer service and community involvement.
He generously gave his time working with older adults through the Baltimore Department of Aging, dedicating himself to improving the lives of seniors in the community. In recognition of his outstanding dedication, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award for his volunteer service. Alfred was also a dedicated volunteer with Maryland Public Television (MPT), where he supported programming, he deeply valued, appreciating its role in providing free access to education for the community.
Alfred had a passion for travel and adventure. He proudly visited all 50 states and traveled internationally, embracing new cultures and experiences along the way. He was a devoted patron of the arts, holding season tickets to the opera and symphony, and found great enjoyment in music and live performance.
Independent and self-sufficient throughout his life, Alfred led an interesting and meaningful journey, leaving behind a legacy of service, curiosity, and love for family and community.
