Ada Viola
Moore
Feb 4, 1943 — May 30, 2026
It is with deep love and gratitude that we celebrate the life of Ada Viola Moore, who peacefully departed this life at the age of 83. Ada was born on February 4, 1943, in Baltimore, Maryland, and was called home to rest after a lengthy illness. She was a proud daughter of the city that she cherished throughout her life. Ada gave her life to Christ at an early age.
Ada was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and graduated from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School.
A devoted nurse, educator, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Ada Viola Moore dedicated her life to caring for others with compassion, strength, and dignity. Her commitment to education led her to earn her B.S.N. from Coppin State College (1979) and a Master’s in Education in 1993. These accomplishments reflect her determination, intelligence, and lifelong belief in the value of learning.
Ada enjoyed working for North Charles General Hospital, Charles Hickey School for Boys, the United States Post Office, and the Baltimore City Health Department.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin Chester and Martha Vivian Brown, and her dear brother, Calvin Louis Brown, whom she loved deeply and carried in her heart always.
She leaves to cherish her memory her five loving children: Deborah Wilson, Yvonne (Ronald) Coleman, Jacqueline (William) Williams, Jonathan (Sherrise) Moore, and Nathaniel (Sherron) Moore; her former husband, John Moore, who remained an important part of her life; her cherished grandchildren, Durell, Derek, Melvin III, Malcolm D., Kyle, Nolan, Sam, Amber, Marcus, Malcolm L., and Darius; and her adored great-grandchildren, Kayla, Amina, Winter, Matthias, and Caleb; as well as her extended family members, lifelong friends, former colleagues, and many whose lives were touched by her kindness and wisdom.
Known for her grace, resilience, and nurturing spirit, Ada Moore was a pillar of strength to her family and community. Whether through her work as a nurse, her encouragement to others, or the love she poured into her family, she leaves behind a legacy of service, faith, and unconditional love. Ada had a passion for reading (as a member of the Kingstree Literary Book Club), dancing, singing (she sang in the church choir), traveling, and cats. She was a member of the Ebonites Social Club.
Her presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
"Well done, thy good and faithful servant."
