William "Billy" H. Cass Sr.

January 29, 1935 — May 4, 2014

William H. (Billy) Cass, of Churchville, MD, died on May 4, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Judith J. (Judy); son William H. Jr. (Bill) and wife Shelby; daughter Judith C. (Ju Ju) and husband Jeff Pierce; 3 grandchildren, Katelyn, Sarah and Chase and 2 great-grandchildren, Emily and David; and nieces and nephews.

He was born and raised in Darlington, MD, and was predeceased by his parents Frances and Howard Cass, his twin sister Marjorie and brother Robert.

Billy worked for the Soil Conservation in his young adult life, served his country in the U. S. Army Signal Corps as a lineman in Germany where he and his wife, who was from Churchville, were married. Following military service, he worked and retired from the C. & P. Telephone Co. He lived in Churchville with his family on the farm known as "Webster's Forest", which was the former home of Mary and John Joesting.

He was an avid horseman and talented farrier. Among his many talents, were creating metal sculptures, wooden rocking horses, gun cabinets and copper flower vases. He built goose pits on the farm where he welcomed all of his hunting buddies for many years of hunting. He enjoyed boating, fishing, crabbing, World War II history, travels in his RV and all children, especially in his later years, the love of his life his dear little great granddaughter, Emily who has lived with Pop Pop and Nanny for much of her 8 years.

He was a kind, generous, fun loving and humorous man who kept everyone, including himself, in good spirits. He had tremendous medical care and support from his beloved Dr. and friend, Peter A. Holt.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
