Wilfred "Bill" Huber

Wilfred Herbert Huber Jr., age 83, of Fallston, MD passed away on July 10, 2019 surrounded by family at his home. Born November 29, 1935 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Cathryn (Killmond) Huber. Bill grew up in Kingsville, MD and was a graduate of Bel Air High School Class of 1955. After high school, he furthered his studies at Harford Community College while working in the family owned International Harvester business. In 1955 he met the love of his life, Norma V. Bauer of Bradshaw, MD, when selling an International Harvester tractor to her father. They were married in 1958 and have celebrated 61 years together.

From 1956-60, Bill served in the US Navy as a Radarman and Shore Patrol Officer based in Newport, RI. During his Naval career, he deployed to the Mediterranean Sea on the U.S.S. Wadleigh DD-689 and U.S.S Mitscher DL-2. After an honorable discharge, Bill pursued a career with the Federal Aviation Administration for 28 years. Bill began his career as an Air Traffic Control Specialist advancing to Supervisor Air Traffic Control Specialist in flight operations until he assumed the position of Technical Program Manager in Research & Development for the Direct User Access Terminal Program. His FAA career afforded him the opportunity to live in Charleston, WV, Harrisburg, PA and Millville, NJ. After a successful FAA career, Bill began his second career as a Quality Assurance Specialist and Marketing Representative with the Data Transformation Corporation for 8 years. He retired in 1998 and moved to Trappe, MD in Talbot County.

Bill was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed boating, fishing, playing tennis, gardening and country music. Most of all he loved restoring, showing and collecting antique cars. His prize car was a fully restored 1970 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 which took many a blue ribbon at local and national Antique Automobile Club shows.

Bill also enjoyed sports, especially the Baltimore Orioles, Colts and Ravens. He was an active member of the New Jersey and Bay Country Region Antique Automobile Club of America serving in many roles over the years. He was also a member of the Cumberland Rifleman Club of NJ and the Union Lake Sailing Club in Millville, NJ.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Norma Vivian Huber; daughter, Michelle Huber Beck and son-in-law, Robert W. Beck of Fallston; granddaughter, Rachel Vanderberg, MD (Apolo); and great grandson, Niko of Pittsburgh, PA: sister-in-law, Gloria Davis(Larry) of Easton, MD; niece, Sharon Brogan(Dave, children: Keene and Claire).
