Thomas "Tommy" G. Spies Sr.

Thomas "Tommy" G. Spies Sr., age 71, of North East, MD, passed away on February 14, 2013 at his home. Born in Abingdon, MD, he was the son of the late Frederick Joseph Spies Sr. and Winifred Augustus Morgan Spies. He was a retiree of the U.S. Navy and the Maryland Army National Guard where he was an environmentalist. An avid scuba diver, he also had a passion for music and dance. It was easy for him to find humor in anything.

Mr. Spies is survived by his sons, Thomas George Spies Jr. of Baltimore and Joshua Spies of Havre de Grace; daughters, Julia Spies-Hawkins of Ayer, MA, Janice Spies of North East and Jessica Spies of Sarasota, FL; sister, Karen "Sue" Jones of Aberdeen; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Frederick Spies Jr. and sister, Joan Hawkins.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
