Thomas "Pete" Reed

Thomas Cothran “Pete” Reed, age 97, of Joppa, Maryland passed away on August 10, 2022 at Sterling Care Center in Forest Hill, Maryland. He was born in Ashe County, North Carolina and was the son of Arnold Reed and Pressie (Wagoner) Reed Jenkins and husband of Nancy Bracken Reed and the late Pearl Reed. He was married for almost 40 years to Nancy Bracken Reed.

Pete was a US Marine Corps veteran serving during World War II and the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Charles Evering VFW Post in Golden Ring.  He retired in 1983 from Baltimore County Schools after 27 years where he taught science at Middle River Junior High School and also served as department chair for many years. He enjoyed piddling around the house, gardening, woodworking, antiquing and reading. 

In addition to his wife, Pete is survived by his children, Michael & his wife Kathleen Reed, C. Lynn Reed and David Reed; stepchildren, Greg & his wife Marie Bracken and Heidi & her husband Mike Wallace; grandchildren, Daniel Reed, Rebecca & her husband Joseph Speca, Derek Reed, Emily Reed, Kristy & her husband Adrian Scurto, Allie Wallace, Jessica Vincent, Jennifer Bracken and Kaylie & her husband Robert “Bo” Schiavi; great grandchildren. Abby Vincent, Tyler Vincent, Kash Vincent, Zoe Bracken, Bo Schiavi and Lorenzo Scurto.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Warren Reed and John Henry Reed and a sister, Geneva Reed Stancill.
