Tad Mahoney

July 12, 1948 — April 15, 2022

Tad James Mahoney, age 73, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on April 15, 2022 at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Born in Potsdam, New York, he was the son of the late James and Norma (Bennett) Mahoney and husband to Joan (Clark) Mahoney for 50 years.  Tad served his country in the U.S. Army as a HAM radio operator during the Vietnam War.  He spent his lifetime making a career on the East Coast in the Railroad Industry. 


In addition to his wife, Tad is survived by his daughters, Shannan Mae Mahoney, Shaun Jean Mahoney McFadden and son-in-law Leo McFadden Jr.; sisters, Pana MacConnell and Danette Ekle; sisters-in-law, Linda Pokorny, Joyce Boyd, and Karen Moakler; brothers-in-law, Gordon Clark and Alan Clark Sr.; and Aunt, Loretta Derushia. Tad is also survived by many nieces and nephews. 


In addition to his parents, Tad was preceded in death by brothers, Shawn, Shane and Craig Mahoney; sister, Kellie Douglas and uncles, William and Gerald Mahoney. 


Tad was uniquely witty, hardworking and generous to a fault. He adored his loving family and was an avid music lover and train enthusiast. He also enjoyed spending time at the casino or chatting with neighbors in his garage. 


A Celebration of Life will be held on May 1, 2022 in Havre de Grace, MD. Please contact the family for details.


Interment will take place in Cooperstown, NY at a later date.
